Between 1904 and 1909, Italo Svevo lived in this building when he was in charge of the Veneziani company, which specialised in paints for the nautical sector. Over the decades, the property has seen a succession of various business activities and building modifications. In recent years, it had fallen into such a worrying state of neglect that many structural parts had to be shored up.

The renovation work therefore focused first on the structural restoration of the upper and horizontal sections. This was followed by the phases involved in bringing the building up to standard in order to make the rooms suitable for exhibiting works related to the Murano glassmaking tradition. This tradition has been well preserved by the FB Signoretti company.
